Atheist and a-theist
My inspiration for this article came from the 1st commandment of Sujatha’s ten commandments.
It goes like this,
“Believe in something like nature, hard work, victory or god without question as science has made us doubt all the events occurring and question everything.”
Basically he says, have blind faith in something!
We are surrounded by the people who are Theist & Atheist. Theist believe that there is god and atheist believe there is no God. Atheist are against God because a lot of bad things are committed across the world in the name of god.
Strange thing here is that, both atheist or theist, have one thing in common. That is BELIEF.
An atheist stick with the no god theory and they look everything from a scientific perspective. they try to see things from a reasoning angle and believe in an event or object if the reasoning is logical. Theist always believe there is an ultimate power that drives every action in this world and they surrender themselves to that power and feel grateful to do so.
Converting a person forcefully from atheist to theist or vice versa will be a big mess. A person should change naturally through their own realisation. When he/she fight with their inner thoughts about the pros and cons of it he/she become a matured person. Recently my friend said in a discussion, “After reading hawking books I overcome the fear of god and I become atheist.” So, what makes a person convert either way is something very specific to the individual. For another person an opposite change is also quite possible.
So, don’t try to break the base belief of anyone is a key point I wanted to highlight. Let the individual realise it on their own. Everybody runs on their own treadmill called life and there is no need to align everyone to the same path.
Here, I want to go little deep into theist that is dominated by three big religions Christianity, Islam and Hinduism.
In Christianity, caring for others is something very fundamental to the extent that the name mother-terasa should be added in the dictionary synonymous for caring.
I have experienced the Islamic way of helping others on some festivals like Qurbani, Ramzan. All muslims give food and clothes to the poor. This is caring through sharing.
When it comes to Hindus, dhanam தானம் (giving) is an important part of one’s religious duty. Hindu’s religious scripture Gita urges people to act selflessly for the welfare of others. A life saving act annadhanam (free food) is provided by most Hindu temples.
As you can see all these three big religions have common value of concern for others.
We should all influence the religious preachers to promote these value in their sermons. We should force them to preach people that the only way to get God’s love is to show the love for others.
Fortunately, Atheist already has this idea of rationalism and humanism. So its time for Atheist and Theist to join hands and spread this core value of caring and concern for others to make this world a better place.
After all both are BELIEVERS :)
Feel free to clap if you believe..!
